Headaches can be quite debilitating, although most headaches are not caused by life-threatening disorders. Most headaches fall into one of the following categories
- sudden changes in weather or environment
- too much or not enough sleep
- strong odors or fumes
- emotion
- stress
- overexertion
- loud or sudden noises
- motion sickness
- low blood sugar
Prodrome
- Constipation
- Mood changes, from depression to euphoria
- Food cravings
- Neck stiffness
- Increased urination
- Fluid retention
- Frequent yawning
Primary headache disorders are divided into four main groups:
- migraine
- tension-type headache
- trigeminal autonomic cephalgias (including cluster headache)
- miscellaneous primary headache
